Should I take my 9-year-old and 11-year-old daughters to see a doctor about bedwetting?

I would recommend evaluation by a physician. There are some physical issues such as urinary tract infection or abnormality that may account for continued bedwetting, although if both children have it, it is likely idiopathic enuresis (bedwetting without physical cause). This type of bedwetting is most often due to small bladder size, and there is almost always a family history of one or the other parent having had the same problem. In general, kids grow out of it at the same age as the affected parent did.
