My son is 10 years old, he is diabetic type 1 and still wets his bed. Is this normal? What can i do to help him?
Meagan Francis answers:
Hi! I'm Meagan Francis from the GoodNites NiteLite Panel. Even without diabetes, it is normal for some kids to still wet the bed at the age of 10. In fact, it's estimated that 5% of kids your son's age are still experiencing nighttime enuresis or bedwetting. Since diabetes and bedwetting can be linked, I would suggest first talking to your doctor to make sure that your son's condition is being properly controlled. If everything is OK, it's very possible your son is just experiencing normal bedwetting that's relatively common for his age. You can try making him more comfortable at night by using GoodNites Underwear. Most of all, make sure he understands that you know the bedwetting isn't his fault. With time and patience almost all kids eventually grow out of bedwetting, and your understanding will go a long way in helping your son feel better in the meantime.
