My son is going to be 16 yrs old this year and he still wets the bed. I have tried everything from waking him up to using homeopathic medicines. He still wears goodnights. But he really wants to do teenage stuff & he's afraid they'll find out or to fall asleep. Any suggestions besides he'll grow out of it.

Christy B. answers:

Does he have a friend that he would feel comfortable confiding in about his bedwetting? That's the first step in determining whether he would be able to do more activities. It is even better if he has that friend of friends who can understand his condition. Since he has already tried medications, ask his doctor if there are other options or you can ask if he can be referred to a specialist. You may also want to check to see if his diet could be a factor. Foods with caffeine, citrus, or dairy can trigger wetting so limiting them may be the best idea. The article "But I'm Too Old to Wet the Bed..." Support and Hope for Teens With Nocturnal Enuresis” has information that can give you more information that may be helpful to you.
