My 6 year old still wets her bed at night. She has no problem during the day.
Jane F. answers:
It is often the case for children with nocturnal enuresis that they have few, if any, problems controlling their bladder during the day. Bedwetting is often caused by a child’s bladder and the hormones that control nighttime urine output to be underdeveloped or out of synch. This creates a situation where the bladder doesn’t have the capacity or the maturity to warn they child that they should wake up to go to the bathroom, resulting in an unconscious release of urine. Nocturnal enuresis can be worsened by allergies, stress, heavy sleeping, certain diseases and other issues, but the underlying cause is most often physical.
