My daughter has always been a bed wetter. She's never had a dry night, and we've been supportive as best we can. But now that she's 8, she wants to have a friend over for a slumber party, and I'm worried about what will happen when her friend comes over and finds out she wets the bed. My daughter doesn't seem to be worried about it. What do I do?

If your daughter isn't too worried about being found out, you shouldn't be either. But remember that many kids continue to wet the bed well into childhood. Is it possible to call your daughter's friend's parents and explain the situation? Even if their child is not a bed wetter herself, she may have a sibling or a cousin who wets the bed. With a little planning, her parents can have a talk with her about how it's not a teasing matter, so that when she finds out your daughter is a bed wetter, she's already prepared to accept it.
If you don't want to share that your daughter wets the bed, put her in a pair of GoodNites® Underwear before bed. She can change into them privately, like when she's in the bathroom, so her friend doesn't have to know. If you're worried about your daughter waking up wet, set your alarm to wake her up an hour or half an hour before she normally wakes, to help her get to the bathroom and change into dry underwear before her friend notices.
And remember, kids often react according to how the grown-ups around them frame a situation. If you don't make a huge deal out of your daughter's bed wetting, there's a good chance neither your daughter nor her friend will either. After all, it's normal! There's nothing to be ashamed of.
