12 yr old girl; exceptionally smart, participates in ballet, plays violin and clarinet and just started soccer as goalie...embarrassed to wear pull up to sleep over.

Christy B. answers:

It is not unusual for a child to feel embarrassed about wearing protection to a sleepover. What you may want to try is having one of her friends sleep over at your house first. That way your daughter will feel comfortable in familiar surroundings. She can control about how she can change into protection such as the GoodNites® Underwear. If she knows what to do in her own home when having a friend over, it can be easier to go to a friend's house with that experience. Also, you can work together to see if there is a way to keep her supplies hidden such as a hidden area in a backpack that she can take in the bathroom to change or using zip-close bags to keep her supplies in. If you can brainstorm what can work best for her, she may eventually feel less embarrassed.
