My child never used to wet the bed and has been potty trained
for about three to four years. At age 6 she began to wet the bed every so
often, and now at age 7 it's becoming more frequent! What could be the cause of
this? How do I deal with this issue?
Meagan Francis, Mother and Blogger answers:
Oh, it's so frustrating when you think you're past a certain
stage – like nighttime wetness – only to have it spring up again! My first
question would be, have there been any changes in your household lately? A
move, job loss, new baby in the family or even a different summer bedtime?
Stress and a disruption of a child's regular routine can both cause kids who've
been dry through the night to start bedwetting again.
Make sure your child is getting enough sleep and not drinking
fluids too close to bedtime. Also, consider anything she might have on her mind
that's causing stress. You might want to check with your family doctor as well.
My guess this is a normal developmental "blip" you'll have to wait
out. You may want to consider using GoodNites® or a similar product
to keep her bed dry in the meantime. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
