The Lord has given us 13 precious children, nine sons and four daughters – nine with nighttime wetting problems. We, as many do at first, had to take the first one to the doctor to try to fix him, only to be told to let him be, that wetting the bed was not intentional and that it would eventually be outgrown. That was the beginning of making light the problem and enduring alarms (which never worked and kept everyone up), cloth towel diapers and all the shame that children go through.
It did help the first one when other siblings had to deal with the same situation! Some of them had accidents in the daytime, too. I lovingly named them the Wetters Club.
Through the years, they have all gradually stopped, some as young as 9 years old, one at 15, one at 17 and one still enduring the problem at 20, but recently prescribed hormone treatment has fixed the problem.
My last three not-so-little ones have been able to use Pull-Ups® and GoodNites® – What a blessing! They are so outgoing and loving and well adjusted, you would never know they wet the bed. They are so confident; they wouldn't care if you did know! I have the best bunch of teenagers anyone would care to be around, and I would go through it all over again. There's far more to life than bedwetting, and God is good!
