My daughter is 7 years, 2 months old and still wets during sleep. She has asthma and her meds include: Advair 100 1 puff tid, Albuterol inhaler w AeroChamber 1 puff tid and prn for coughing/wheezing, Allegra 30 mg 1 tab bid, Nasonex 2 squirts each nostril daily, Multivitamin daily and Coral Calcium bid. She occasionally has to be on oral Prednisone. Do steroids or her other medications have an effect on enuresis?
Answer
None of her medications should adversely affect bedwetting unless they are not keeping her asthma under control. Sometimes children who suffer from nocturnal enuresis also have airway obstructions at night. If her asthma is under control, it's probably just that her brain doesn't respond properly to the signals sent by her full bladder. There are tests that her physician can perform to ensure that there are no other problems causing the bedwetting.
